Kortdurende psychoanalytische partnerrelatietherapie
Summary
In this article the author sets out to establish a broad theoretical basis for psychoanalytic couples therapy. Essential components are presented: the concept of collusion, theories of separation-individuation, principles derived from from object-relation and selfpsychology, and the intimacy-conflict model. Practical requirements for brief therapy are offered, including working with a focus, setting limits to the number of sessions, maintaining an active attitude as a therapist, and the use of transference and countertransference. Finally, some aspects of assessment are discussed.
